I totally agree with your on the relationship with Jessica - he's definitely always craving her approval, but would go to the mattresses for her in a heartbeat (even against her orders). That moment in the last episode where she says if he goes, I go after their earlier conversations about leaving made it clear it was the last option for Jessica was awesome. You could see that final puzzle piece falling into place for Harvey where he knows he's achieved everything she ever wanted for him professionally. And we saw in his failure to court bankruptcy (which made me giggle as that's the family business - they totally got the minimize risk, cut your losses, don't risk the family homestead attitude of every bankruptcy lawyer I grew up around), Jessica was unaware of the extent Harvey was feared but respected yet hated by the other partners. In the mock trial, Jessica stripped Harvey to the bone emotionally when she pushed him on being damaged. I think in that moment Jessica was honestly shocked that Harvey felt caring makes you weak despite knowing enough about his relationship with his mother to guess what she had done. I think Jessica's next project will be on teaching Harvey how to make allies and friends, because he really cannot be a name partner until he has the support of more of the firm.
Yeah, I really never see Harvey turning on Jessica - that's all in Hardman's head. She would have to betray his sense of morality for him to do so (and in the end, he would still confront her directly). And Jessica does not take shortcuts like that. Will she groom him to take over? Absolutely. I could see a set up where Mike pulls one too many shenanigans and she wants to cut him loose but Harvey disagrees. But I think we already saw that moment and Jessica blinked.
Jessica had no problem deposing Hardman because (a) he used her in his takeover as a token black female instead of actually for her merits, (b) he was a horrible managing partner and ran the firm like his own dictatorship, and (c) Hardman was dirty and eventually would sink the firm through his actions. But I think to Hardman, he sees himself as having mentored Jessica just as she mentored Harvey.
