MORE AMAZING FIC.

You have a knack for writing these lines in your fic that just stand out in bright flashing lights to me, not only because they're so eloquent, but because they're short phrases that speak VOLUMES about this relationship, thus, they quickly become my favorites. This time it is:

When it comes to each other, they only deal in absolutes.

You are so good at characterizing the subtitles between these two. I feel like if the complexities of any relationship are subtle on this show, it has to be D/H that take the cake, and I LOVE IT THAT WAY. For instance:

as much as she claims to know him, he knows her just as well.

THIS. On the surface, it seems as though Donna might have the edge up on this, especially since Harvey shows so little of what's inside on the surface, but it's things like knowing to bring the check, knowing that Donna didn't miss that memo (though the scene was cut), the little look they share in 'Sucker Punch' that says, "She would ABSOLUTELY have destroyed that memo had I asked her to," that gives these little glimpses into how well Harvey knows Donna. Which leads me to how this is one of the most amazing lines ever:

They’ve been finding ways around it for years, infiltrating all the tiny crevices of each other’s life, binding themselves to one another in every way but one.

It just adds that much more gravity to how terrifying it must have been to think that the trust they had built up could actually be, and was, shaken when the entire memo debacle happened. It's always been an interesting thing to me that Harvey didn't fire Donna. Donna was absolutely right when she called him out on it, and it was a cowardly thing to do, but I also think it speaks volumes about HOW tied he is to her. Harvey does not do cowardly. He was even going to look Mike in the eye and fire him. Yes, he backed off, but he had the full intention of doing so. According to Jessica, Harvey wanted to be the one to fire Donna. Though Donna, who knows everything, correctly points out, Harvey lets Jessica do so because he wanted Jessica to be the one to fire her. To me that plays as though Harvey, the one who never cows down, immediately runs for the hills because if there's ANYONE he can't look in the eye and do that to, IT'S DONNA. I would have LOVED to see that conversation between Jessica and Harvey when she tells him what she's going to do. It's not that he doesn't respect her (though I do absolutely understand why Donna cites that as the reason), but that he was actually terrified to look her in the eye, to lose her. IDK, if I've got that completely backwards, but that's always how I've read it? Just something I always consider when I rewatch...and now I'm completely off topic. Your fic always gets my D/H wheels turning. Which only speaks to how well written it is. Anyway, I loved it! I loved how it ended as well. Everything is always so them.

Can't wait for your next one (because there will be more please say yes)! :)
