Donna was absolutely right when she called him out on it, and it was a cowardly thing to do, but I also think it speaks volumes about HOW tied he is to her. Harvey does not do cowardly.
THIS SO FREAKIN' MUCH. Even though I wish we could see more Harvey/Donna on this show ALL THE TIME, I really do wish we could have seen this conversation between Jessica and Harvey. Obviously, Harvey would have been like "it should be me. I should be the one to do it." And yeah, he'd fight for her, he would say "she goes. I go." but he would also still be angry and betrayed and hurt over the fact that SHE DIDN'T COME TO HIM, so a part of him would also realize too easily that it is the only option. And of course, I think he would know that it wouldn't be long term, that they'd get Hardman out and he would get her back - so he lets Jessica do it and she does it because she also sort of wants to protect him from having to do it? The Jessica/Harvey relationship is so interesting, and I do think she sees him as a mentee/son, and she knows that is something he wouldn't be able to come back from, knows he will spiral out of control without Donna regardless, and she doesn't want him to be a full-on casualty, so she tells him she'll do it, end of story, and he lets her because it's easy, and he just can't. They talk about things they can't come back from, and that is one of them. I wish I could write that fic, just to explore it, but Jessica is so hard to tackle.
Anyway, sorry for blathering on about that. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing feedback, and don't worry, there should be a new story up tomorrow!
