I think what I loved best was the idea that Bruce gave Alfred the illusion, because he loves him so much and realized how much he had been loved by him. He could ask her for that, and then ask her for more after the fact. Just, really, really interesting, and it feels so right, that I just can't accept any other idea about that scene now. They were playing and play-acting, and just, guh.
Beyond that is the constant refrain of the pearls, which I loved. All they symbolized, over and over, and the way they kept them connected, even when she didn't realize that's what they were doing.
The other stuff that I just loved...well, all the dialogue, and the little scoffing laughs of Bruce Wayne, and just, man. It made me want to run back to the theater and watch the movie again ASAP. And Selina, my dear, Selina, who we should have SO MUCH MORE OF, and if we don't get her, at least I have this to treasure again and again. The stuff about the scars, both his and hers, the *fucking* -- which seemed so emphatic of her, like she had to keep calling it that so as to keep it to what it should be -- and then when they're in Florence, just *sigh* It's not happily ever after, but it is content, or peaceful, or stillness, maybe. After too much time in motion, they are finally still, and it's just lovely.
So, yeah, super glad you wrote this, and super glad I got to read it. Well done.
